Tristen Gregg Collins, age 24, died on Friday, August 21, 2020 in Aurora, CO.
Tristen was born on March 7, 1996 in Aurora, CO to parents Dawn Danner and Gregg Collins. Tristen lovingly became known as "Woobie" to his friends and family. If you knew Tristen, you are very sad. However, if you knew Woobie, your heart is completely shattered. Woobie was so kind, the most gentle spirit, tender, peace loving modern day hippie I knew. He loved hugs, nature, his siblings, his dog, his friends, toaster strudels, his dad's spaghetti, the 4th of July, football and cannabis. He had a smile that could light up a room.
Tristen fought so many things in his short 24 years. He felt his hurts and other’s emotions so deeply that it was often too much for him. Like so many young people he turned to drugs to attempt to self medicate. As a family we had made great strides this past week and had found a rehabilitation center for him to begin treatment. While he was nervous, he was looking forward to a new life. His unintentional passing has left those of us here grieving and broken but he is no longer fighting, hurting or feeling less than. He is whole, healed and with our Lord and Savior.
Tristen is survived by his parents, Dawn (Bill) and Gregg; his sisters, Kahle and Eleanor; his brothers, Justin and Liam; his maternal great-grandmother, Eleanor; his maternal grandparents, Barb (Cary) and John (Christy); numerous blessings of step family, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved him as family. Tristen is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Joe James and his paternal grandparents, Mary Alice Collins and Harry D Collins.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, August 29th at Challenger Park in Parker, CO from 11:30am - 1:30pm.
