Thomas "Mike" Price Obituary

Thomas Michael Price (Mike) passed away surrounded by his loving family on February 24, 2020 in Aurora, Co.  Mike was born in Olney, Texas on Sept. 22, 1948 to J. B. Price and Idella Lorraine Hood.  Mike was a true family man and always put his family first.  He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jan, their two children, Daniel (Katie) and Kelly (Ryan).

He had a wonderful time growing up in Lipan with many friends and classmates.  Mike was close to his three cousins Tim, Dan, and Rod Sears.  He attended school in the Lipan School District where his grandfather, George Hood, was the Principal.  Mike then graduated from Gordon High School in 1967. He then entered the U. S. Navy where he had many adventures and saw the world. After his Naval Service, he moved to Colorado where he met his wife, Jan.  Mike worked for the City of Aurora until his retirement.  He and Jan spent their retirement years in Elizabeth, Colorado.

Mike was known for his sense of humor. He was an entertainer and could balance a sledge hammer on his nose.  In his younger years, he was known as the life of the party.  Even in the most difficult moments, Mike would manage to work in a joke to help others smile.

When it came to fixing things around the house or creating a solution to a problem, Mike would come up with the best and most creative ideas and put them into action without hesitation.  He was an excellent craftsman and could fix anything.  His skill and attention to detail were incredible, and his mind was always processing the next project or challenge.

Mike would drop everything at a moment’s notice to assist others in need.  He was always there for his family and volunteered to help with any home projects.  His support was unwavering for his children, and eagerly attended every sporting event, play, or school activity.  Mike was commonly found at the kitchen table helping his children study and creating unique mnemonics so they would never forget the information.

He often said, “You’ll never fail or succeed if you don’t at least give it a try.”

He was an incredible role model and loved with all of his heart.  His strength, intelligence and generosity was unmatched.  He was the absolute best husband and father, and he will be truly missed.
