Sharron Anne Dowis passed away peacefully with family at her side on August 18, 2023 in Parker, CO.  She waged a valiant battle with Lewy Body Dementia during her final years.  She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend and will be deeply missed by all who had the good fortune to know her.

Sharron was born February 12, 1944 in San Diego, CA to Clarence M. and Irene (Waldo) Schadegg.  She spent her early life in Iowa, her mother’s home state, but grew up in Sterling, CO, her father’s hometown.  Sharron was the oldest of 7 children and she was the consummate big sister, caring for and protecting her siblings. She graduated from St. Anthony’s High School and Northeastern Junior College, Sterling.  On May 16, 1964 she married John Craig Dowis, who was her devoted husband and best friend for over 59 years. Among their greatest blessings were their three beautiful daughters.

Sharron and John retired to Lone Tree, CO and Casa Grande, AZ but spent their best days traveling, visiting all 50 states and many foreign countries. Sharron was happiest spending time with their family, roaming the country in their RV, or watching a movie with John.

Sharron is survived by her husband, John, of Parker, CO, and daughters Cindy (James) Manuel, Parker; Sherrie Shinkle, Highlands Ranch, CO; and Jonni Sue (Zach) Merritt of Cape Coral, FL. She was beloved Grammy to Dylan, Jake, and Jessica Shinkle; Tony and Savannah Mendez; and Sydney (Merritt) Fitzpatrick.
