Honoring the life and memory of our father Sami Shafi. Sami Shafi was born to the late Reverend Elijah Daniel Shafi and Winifred John on September 27th, 1935, in Shimla India. Sami completed his primary education in Karachi and then later in Lahore, Pakistan. There he focused his efforts on business and economics studies at Foreman Christian College. Sami loved helping people and that’s why he started his career in the Travel Industry, working for Ali Talia (Italian Airlines) and Pan Am Air. Sami started courting his college sweetheart, Dr. Sybil William in the mid to early sixties, and pursued her until they got married on Saturday, February 19th, 1966. Sami and Sybil had three precious children, Mark, Daniel, and Amber. Sami and Sybil were blessed with 10 grandchildren, Jasper, Gabriel, Zara, Sara, Lauren, William, Emma, Simon, Chloe, and Sophia. Mark’s spouse Momi, Daniel’s spouse Melissa and Amber’s spouse Jeff. On January 14th , 2005, he lost his beloved wife, Sybil, who left behind her family she fiercely loved. That same year Sami had his heart valve surgery. We did not know if he would pull through, but God helped him successfully heal from this life’s episode. We prayed for his recovery by his side and God heard all our prayers. Sami was very independent and preferred to live life on his own terms. He was a very generous person and would give or share the best he had with anyone. He was a master of recognizing color and matching, specifically with his GQ wardrobe sense and style. He was very fashion forward down to his shirts, trousers, blazers, and shoes always polished showcasing his dashing personality and looks. God allowed his journey to be completed 17½ years after our mother Sybil had entered the presence of our Lord in 2005. The morning of July 1st at 9:10 a.m., Jesus called him home. All three of his children including their spouses and his grandchildren had the opportunity to be with him before he passed away. He peacefully passed in his sleep with his three children by his side.
