Celebrating the Life of Robert “Bob” Saunders
Robert William Saunders died on January 31st. He was the son of Harold and Harriet Saunders. Robert was the loving husband of Linda Saunders. Robert was the loving father to daughter Terri Saunders. Robert was a brother to his siblings, Charlene Atchison, Cathy Goodale, and Jim Saunders.
Bob met his future wife in an unlikely place. Linda and Bob met after Linda accidentally threw her keys in a dumpster. Bob, ever the gentleman, retrieved the keys from the dumpster for Linda and then invited her on a date.
Bob and Linda’s Las Vegas love story is one that lasted. The couple ran away and eloped in Las Vegas. They were married for an incredible 50 years.
Bob was a Vietnam Veteran and sergeant. He was a member of the 1st Calvary Infantry Division. Bob was awarded a Bronze Star for his service. Bob served alongside his friend, Randy Rosch. Bob and Randy unknowingly lived 8 miles apart until reconnecting in Colorado. Bob knew Randy had been shot and airlifted out of Vietnam.
After returning from Vietnam, Bob attended Metropolitan State College in Denver. He studied criminology and pre-law.
Bob owned his own construction company and built homes in Longmont and Elizabeth.
Bob enjoyed traveling to Saint George, Utah for the winter. He liked fishing, boating, and traveling. Bob was an excellent skier.
Bob is a good man. Bob is know to be a little mischievous and he is known for his sense of humor.
