Robert Charles Gray, 79, of Foxfield, Colorado passed away October 7, 2019 in his home he built with his own two hands. He was surrounded, literally, by his wife and all five children. Robert, also known as Bob and affectionately as Uncle Bob and even more affectionately as Dad, was born April 18, 1940 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Russell and Dorothy (Peckham) Gray.
Bob graduated from Manti High School in 1958, obtained his Bachelor of Science in Geophysics in 1963 and his Master of Science in Geophysics in 1966 from the University of Utah. He also served in the United States Army Reserve from 1963 to 1965. Bob started his career at Chevron, working his way to Partner at Sefel & Associates and spent most his career by starting and running Thistle, Inc.
Bob married Mary Lou Bailey on July 6, 1968 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada where they lived and raised their family until moving to Denver, Colorado. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and loved leading and mentoring young men in the church’s scouting program. He was truly at home outside and loved all things outdoors; hunting, fishing, scouting, gardening, exploring, but most of all ear (if you are a niece or nephew) or bum pinching(if you are a mother-in-law).
Bob is preceded in death by one grandson, Daniel, and survived by his wife, Mary Lou, children Kymne Hehman, Nicky Knighton, Crysi Ludlow, Rob Gray and Patti Snell and spouses, 18 grandchildren, one great granddaughter, brothers and sister Russell Gray, Steven Gray, Wayland Gray, Janet Kjar and Edward Gray.
Bob touched and inspired so many people in so very many ways. He brought fun, joy and laughter to all who know him. We feel truly blessed to have shared his life. We will truly miss him.
