Peter Olmi Obituary

Peter Michael Olmi entered eternal life April 11, 2024. He was born in Stockton, California to Alice Adriana and Peter Michael Olmi, November 27, 1944. He attended schools in Stockton, CA, including St. Gertrude, St. Mary’s High School, Delta Junior College, and University of the Pacific, studying history, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree. He played sports in high school, had his successes, and was incredibly fond of baseball, his favorite sport. He joined the Air Force in 1968, and was stationed at Vance Air Force Base, Enid Oklahoma. He was a sergeant in the Air Force, serving as an Air Force personnel specialist, and was honorably discharged in 1972. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, and Air Force Good Conduct Medal. He once shared with his children that his greatest military achievement was installing air conditioning into the barracks at Vance Air Force base (no mean feat for any military base especially in the 1970s, as Oklahoma was particularly hot in the summer!). In Enid, he met Nancy Walter, whom he married in September of 1970. He graduated from Phillips University, Enid Oklahoma, studying physical education. He and Nancy had two children, Adria Olmi and Michael Olmi.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Louise Margaret Olmi (2011) of 41 years, whom he referred to as his “forever girl,” his mother Alice Olmi, and his father, Peter Michael Olmi.
He is survived by his children, Adria P. Olmi, and Michael J. Olmi (Jolie), and 4 adoring grand- children, Peter Michael Olmi, III, Charles Levi Olmi, Atlas Diesel Ivanosky Olmi, and Miriam
(Kat) Florencia Olmi, and his nephew Jesse Walter (Christina)..
Amongst his most treasured moments were time spent with his loving family in Colorado; he devoted himself to his grand-children, whom he loved dearly. In Oklahoma and California, he spent many years as a proud “pet-parent” and “pet-grand-parent.” He prioritized daily reading of the Bible– the King James, and drinking coffee, his morning ritual. He was an avid sports fan, particularly for the Yankees Baseball team, and Raiders football team, both of which were life- long obsessions. He was a “collector.” As a child he collected base-ball cards, and mentally spent his life collecting sports, historical, and entertainment trivia. He often spoke fondly of viewing the mountains in Colorado, and in viewing old-growth trees of the Congaree National Forest, SC, and in particular, the Redwoods, CA. Something of a nature lover, he was attracted in a quiet way to mountains, trees, star gazing, bees, and to “fur-babies.” In Oklahoma, he could be found with binoculars staring at the stars with wonder. Amongst his happiest moments were spent with grand-children, and wrestling with the dog, Ice.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael the Archangel, Aurora, Co, Thursday, April 18, 2024, at 1030 am. An Internment will be at a later date at Fort Logan National Cemetery. He will be
