Patricia "Pat" Udlock Obituary

Patricia (Widmaier) Udlock, of Parker, CO, formerly of Loveland, CO, passed away on September 27, 2021. Her struggle with dementia is over and she now rests in the arms of Jesus along with her beloved husband Skip, who preceded her in death in 2012.

Pat was born Patricia Alice Widmaier on October 19, 1940 to Theodore “Ted” Widmaier and Clara M. Hutchinson in Denver, CO.  The family moved to Evergreen, CO, where she graduated from high school.  After high school, Pat attended Hastings College (NE), graduating with a degree in Christian Education. While in college, a certain Edward “Skip” Udlock caught her eye. They married after graduation and raised two children, Kristen and Michael.

Following Skip’s lifelong career with the American Red Cross, Pat served in various churches and schools in Brown Deer, WI, Grand Rapids, MI, Manassas, VA, and Houston, TX where she retired after 35 years of teaching 3rd grade. In her spare time, she enjoyed making life-long friends, serving in various capacities at her church, ringing hand bells, knitting, reading, and recording and watching her favorite soap opera, Days of our Lives. The invention of VCRs may well have been her favorite thing until TiVo came along!

Her life was filled with loving, caring for, and teaching her family and thousands of children and adults. At home and in the classroom, she lived a consistent life as a shining example of how to live and love. She loved teaching and never gave up, challenging kids to improve and grow. As the progression of dementia claimed more and more of her memory, it never touched her heart. Even when she struggled to find the right words, she never struggled to say, “I love you.” Her family is especially grateful for the exceptional care she received from the Good Samaritan Society – Loveland Village and from MorningStar of Parker.

Pat is survived by her sister Judith Widmaier, and her children Kristen Buechner and husband Christopher, and Michael Udlock and wife Dana. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward “Skip” Udlock.  Pat is also survived by her brother-in-law Donald Udlock and his wife Vicki, and her wonderful grandchildren Kayla Thompson and her husband Brandon, C.J. Buechner and his wife Keni, Kennedy Buechner, Jonathan Udlock, Thomas Udlock, Michaela Udlock, David Udlock, Joshua Udlock, and great grandson Colton Thompson.

Final arrangements have been entrusted to Parker Funeral Home. A private family memorial will be held at a later date.  The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations in Pat’s name be made to:

Go Down Death, (excerpt) by James Wheldon Johnson

Weep not, weep not,
She is not dead;
She's resting in the bosom of Jesus.
Heart-broken husband--weep no more;
Grief-stricken son--weep no more;
Left-lonesome daughter --weep no more;
She only just gone home….

And Jesus took his own hand and wiped away her tears,
And he smoothed the furrows from her face,
And the angels sang a little song,
And Jesus rocked her in his arms,
And kept a-saying: Take your rest,
Take your rest.

Weep not--weep not,
She is not dead;
She's resting in the bosom of Jesus.
