Nancy Baker Obituary

On November 15, 2023, our cherished wife, mother, and Nana, Nancy Anderson Baker (77) of Parker, CO, peacefully passed away in her home surrounded by her family.

One of Nancy’s proudest moments was achieving top honors in her graduating class from Methodist Hospital’s School of Nursing in 1983. Throughout this period, she remained steadfast in her dedication to raising her two children, ensuring their active participation in school, music, dance, and sports activities. Following graduation, she served as an OR surgical nurse before becoming a pioneer in hospice care for the West Texas region through her involvement with Hospice of the South Plains. Nancy devoted herself wholeheartedly to the diligent care of her patients, treating them with love as if they were family. Known affectionately as 'Nurse Nancy' by her family, she always had a remedy for ailments and eagerly embraced any opportunity to heal and comfort those around her.

Nancy took great pleasure in decorating her home, creating a warm and inviting space. Her fondness for collecting ideas and inspiration from catalogs and magazines was evident in the carefully crafted decorations that adorned every room in her home. She eagerly anticipated birthdays, holidays, and milestones, using these occasions to express her love through cheerful balloons, beautiful cakes, and meticulously wrapped gifts. Recognizing the fragility of life, she never let a moment pass without expressing her appreciation and love for those dear to her. She especially enjoyed leaving her family little notes in surprise places filled with encouragement, admiration, humor, and love.

An active member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Lubbock, Texas, Nancy served as an elder, taught Sunday School, and participated in various church groups and events. Singing traditional hymns on Sundays brought her immense joy. A devout Christian, she found solace and spiritual connection in nature. She delighted in observing birds, wildlife, and the changing seasons through the trees and foliage in her backyard and during leisurely drives throughout her beloved state of Colorado. Nancy’s belief in angels was her guiding light. She filled her home and life with angels, and now she is among them in her eternal home.

Nancy is survived by her devoted husband, Dwight Baker, of Parker, CO; her loving children, Robin (Steven) Paduch of Parker, CO, and Brad (Marisa) Crowson of Albuquerque, NM; and her four grandchildren who deeply adored her: Emily and Ethan Paduch and Cristina and Nicholas Crowson. She is also remembered fondly by numerous extended family members.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Goldie Anderson, and her sister, Barbara Jean Anderson.
