Matthew "Matt" Justin Gilbert

Matt Gilbert passed away at age 31. Matt was born in Castle Rock, CO to Darcy Gilbert on 9/24/1990. Matt resided in Utah with his wife & son. Matt enjoyed spending time with his kids & being a dad. Matt loved his family & truly enjoyed family get togethers. Some of his favorite things to do were fly RC planes & helicopters, build RC helicopters, go fishing & spend the day at the lake, drive around in the mountains & racing. Matt raced a Supermodified for many years (#54) & he loved being out on the track. Matt was a very loving person that you couldn’t help but love. He had an incredible smile that was sure to light up any room & he had a contagious laugh that could put a smile on anyone’s face. He worked several years as a truck driver & he later switched to operating heavy equipment. He loved doing both, but also wanted to become a pilot someday. Matt was ambitious, funny, caring, competitive & sarcastic! He was dearly loved & will be greatly missed.

Matt is survived by his son Bryson Gilbert; daughters Everlee & Eleanor Gilbert; wife Amy Slaugh; Aunt & Uncle - Donita & Ken Stegman; cousins - Ashley & Teighlor Stegman; Grandpa – Don Gilbert; sister-in-laws Amber Slaugh & Abby Stahl; great Aunt & Uncle - Dan & Rosemary Gilbert; father-in-laws Vent Slaugh & Mike Stahl; niece & nephew Jaydon & Kalee Slaugh

Matt is preceded in death by his mom Darcy Gilbert; Grandma – Judy Gilbert; Great Grandparents - Sylvia & Leonard Peters; Marvin & Naomi Gilbert; mother-in-law Debbie Stahl; sister-in-law Jesse Slaugh; great Uncle – Doyle Peters.
