Matthew David Maloney of Parker, Colorado, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 4, 2021, from sudden respiratory arrest. He was ten days shy of his 58th birthday.
The youngest of five siblings, Matthew was born in Brooklyn, New York on October 15, 1963, to parents Gerard and Claire Maloney. As a young man, Matthew enlisted in the United States Marines Corps, an experience that would shape him for a life of service and dedication to others.
In the summer of his 27th year, Matthew moved to Colorado with his young family. Matthew loved learning about US history, cheering for Colorado sports teams, playing with his dogs, and sharing the best bargains found at the grocery store. But his absolute greatest joy was being called Dad and Grandpa. Matthew served in events and operations at Southeast Christian Church for 18 years and was a beloved member of the Church community.
Matthew is survived by siblings Sharon, Sheila, Gerard, and Christina; daughter Stephanie and her husband Jonathon, son Shane and his fiancée Vina; grandchildren Fitzgerald and Fiona; and his former spouse Ann.
A celebration of life service will be held at Southeast Christian Church in Parker, Colorado on Friday, October 8, 2021 at 10:30AM. In lieu of flowers, the family has designated SECORCares for memorial contributions.
