Mary Ann (Zychowski) Frangis

Mary Frangis, 73, of Elizabeth, CO, was born on September 28th, 1949, in Detroit, Michigan, and passed away on March 15th, 2023; she was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Margaret Zychowski, and her beloved husband, William Frangis. She is survived by her brother, Michael (Jo Ann) Zychowski; her sisters, Susan (David) Maxwell and Jane (Sebastian) Benenati; her two daughters Rachel Frangis and grandson William Chase Frangis-Bishop, and Kathryn (Michael) Lengel and granddaughters, Alexis and Cadence Lengel.

Mary graduated from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI, and then continued to the Police Academy in 1974, where she achieved the first female police officer to work street patrol in Detroit, Michigan. She was partnered with William, and they later became partners in life. They were married in 1975 and spent the rest of their lives happily married.

In 1989 Mary and her family settled in Colorado, where they raised their children. Mary worked in the legal field as a paralegal and was highly involved within her community. She served on the Elbert County Republican Women committee for over two decades and was proud to be president of the ECRW for several years.

Most of all, Mary loved her family and was a friend to all who knew her. Mary will be forever remembered with love and immensely missed.
