Leslie "Roger" Dean Obituary

Leslie Rogers Dean, Jr. “Roger” entered peacefully into rest at home in Parker, Colorado on March 10, 2020, at 61 years of age. He is preceded in death by his parents Leslie Rogers Dean, Sr. and Elsie Joy (Lindh) Dean. Roger is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, JoDee (Scott) Dean, daughter Courtney (Brad) Trede, son Jeremy (Cathy) Dean, son Wesley (Jennifer) Dean, and daughter Kelsey Dean. Roger was the proud grandfather of eight grandchildren: Taylor Xavier, Bailey Xavier, Brayden Dean, Joseph Dean, Spencer Dean, Finley Trede, Cooper Trede, and Hudson Trede.  Additionally, Roger is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Roger was born on June 18, 1958, in Chicopee, Massachusetts. As a child, Roger lived in several locations throughout the United States as well as for a time in Germany. Roger’s father and mother eventually retired to Gulfport, Mississippi where Roger attended Gulfport East High School. Roger met his wife, JoDee in Gulfport and they were married March 30, 1979, in the Washington D.C. Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Roger attended Jefferson Davis Junior College in 1979 and continued his education at Brigham Young University from 1980 to 1983.

Roger’s work ethic and ingenuity helped him throughout his career which included time spent with Domino’s Pizza, eventually transitioning to software support engineer and business consulting roles for companies in the cable television advertising industry. These particular jobs moved Roger and his family from Mississippi to Utah to Arizona and finally, to Colorado. Shortly after moving to Colorado, Roger and his wife JoDee opened The Parker Shoppes in Parker, Colorado. In 2012, Roger was involved in a traffic accident with a drunk driver that severely limited his ability to continue to work. Despite Roger’s new circumstances, he persisted and found himself working in new capacities in both the cable television advertising industry and at The Parker Shoppes.

Roger was industrious, an avid reader and self-learner which are all traits that Roger passed to his four children. He could easily see the beauty and potential of old things and collected many old trinkets and gadgets throughout his life. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and particularly enjoyed going to the theater to see movies with them. Together, Roger and JoDee took pleasure in going on cruises. Their adventures included cave-tubing in Belize; a favorite shared memory. Roger held the office of Elder in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Fire House Subs Foundation at firehousesubsfoundation.org.
