Karen Janine (Gresh) Zummo

Karen Janine Zummo, 57, of Castle Rock, Colorado.

Her story began in Indiana, Pennsylvania, born of the late Lawrence and Jo Ann Gresh on December 5, 1961. She was the youngest of her 3 siblings, Deborah Schrum, Larry Gresh and John “Jack” Gresh. She Attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh pursuing one of her first loves: Photography.

She was creative and gifted, able to take things and people alike, those who were the most broken and make them whole, restore their purpose and help make them beautiful once again. She poured every ounce of who she was into what she pursued and those she loved. Her door and her heart were one in the same…always open to those in need. There was always a place at her table, a spare bed in her home, a hearty meal for the hungry and a listening ear for the weary. She loved her friends and family deeply and passionately, always made herself available, always gave generously, always strived to fill in the gaps of our lives.

She had a successful career in real estate, but she isn’t remembered for selling houses to clients…she is remembered for selling homes to people who became family. She was genuine and caring and had a presence that made everyone feel as if they had a place.

She enjoyed spending time in the mountains and camping, art shows and the theatre, and volunteering at her church. Her mornings became a ritual, spent with a Bible in her hands and her beloved dog, Jackson, curled up on her lap. Her love and devotion for the Lord was unparalleled.

November 4th, 2019 she passed away at home in the presence of her family. Her story didn’t end that day, her legacy will continue to live on through her three surviving children Ryan Zummo, Amy Zummo, Lauren Zummo Porricelli, and the man who stood by her side till the very end, Mark Ketter.

A memorial service honoring her life and the legacy she has left us all will be held Saturday, November 16th at Highline Community Church at 12 PM, with food and fellowship following the service.
