Joyce Mae Kellogg, a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many, was called home on December 28, 2023. Born in Sterling, Colorado, on April 11, 1943, to Ted and Ann (Stertz) Ruf, Joyce's life was filled with cherished moments spent with her family and friends and an everlasting relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ.
She was raised on the Ruf family farm north of Sterling Colorado, attended Trinity Lutheran Schools, and graduated from Sterling High School in 1961. During her school years, Joyce was active in the 4-H program, Trinity Lutheran Church, choir, and dance in addition to being a Sterling Tiger cheerleader.
Joyce was blessed with a storybook romance that began in middle school. She married her middle school sweetheart, Stan Kellogg after graduating from UNC with an associate's degree, and they began a lifelong partnership with shared ambitions and enduring love. Both Joyce & Stan began their careers at the State Farm Insurance Regional Office in Greeley and eventually worked together to build a successful Insurance agency of their own in the Denver metro area.
Joyce's greatest joy came from being a devoted mother to her son Scott and her daughter Laura, as well as a grandmother to her 5 beloved grandchildren. She was the ultimate horseshow and 4-H mom. Her cheers echoed the loudest whether she was cheering on her son at livestock events or her daughter at horse shows.
Joyce was an exceptional cook, creating cherished moments during holidays and special occasions that will forever remain etched in the hearts of her adoring family friends. On September 14, 2023, Joyce and Stan celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary, a testament to their continuous love and unwavering devotion to one another.
Joyce's Christian faith was the cornerstone of her life which was evident in her strength, compassion, and grace. Her infectious laughter and radiant smile brightened every room she entered, instantly making everyone feel cherished and valued. Joyce also treasured her time spent at the family cabin in Grand Lake, CO. It was a cozy place where she welcomed family members, hunters, and fishermen with her warm hospitality and delicious meals.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Ann Ruf, her brother Gerald Ruf, and her in-laws Ella and Downing (Boots) Kellogg. Joyce is survived by her loving husband, Stan Kellogg of Franktown / Grand Lake, CO, her two children Scott (Monica) Kellogg of Kiowa, CO, Laura (Bryan) Morison of Eagle, CO, her five dearly loved grandchildren, Landon, Abby, Bennett, Kyle, Drew, Sister Joann Hansen of Denver, CO, her sister-in- law’s Norma Ruf of Sterling, CO, Judy Kellogg of Sterling, CO, Betsy (Larry) Hoppal of Bull Head City, AZ, as well as her many nieces and nephews.
Joyce was beloved by all who knew her. Her warm smile and infectious laugh lit up a room, and her kindness and generosity were unmatched. She had a heart of gold and would do anything for the people she loved. She was a true treasure, and we love her dearly.
