Josephine “Joie”Carpenter 89, died peacefully at home on August 6, 2022. She was surrounded by the love of her family.
Joie was born April 19, 1933 to her parents John and Tere Prezzia. Tere was widowed with seven children when she met John. John, an Italian immigrant, fell in love and married beautiful Tere and they had Joie.
Joie and her seven siblings were beyond close. They loved and supported each other throughout their lives. Joie was the last surviving sibling.
She is preceded in death by
Orlie Cordova, Ida Whitcomb, Moses Vigil, Daisy Ortega, Emma Espinosa, Julia Wade and Anna Patterson . The legacy of this family is filled with Love, strength and tenacity.
Joie met her husband Capp on a blind date in high school. They were sweet hearts throughout high school and college. They were married for 42 years. Capp sadly passed In 1997 , but not before they had many adventures ,traveled to many beautiful places. Spain, Italy , New Zealand to name a few. They had a beautiful life together. They had two Daughters. Debbie and Lisa. They were also blessed with four Grand Children who they enjoyed immensely.
Joie graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Education. She was an elementary teacher for many years. Joie ended her working career working with in the Arapahoe County Library District.
Joie made many life long friends while working at the Library.
Joie also made many wonderful life long friends in her community and church.
Joie also frequently enjoyed the Beautiful Islands of Maui and Kauai. She enjoyed many trips with her family.
Joie tragically lost her daughter Debbie to Cancer in 2013. This was a very difficult time .
Joie had the perfect name because she brought joy to all that knew her with her loving generous spirit,her sparkle,her laughter,her humor and her love. Her light shined brightly until the very end .
She is survived by
Daughter Lisa Hurst ( Frank), Son-in- law Rick Nielsen
Grand Children, Josh Thistle, Daniel Thistle, Teresa Thistle, Sean Nielsen,
Great Grand Children, Jayden Dawson, Isaiah Dawson, Roman Thistle, Capp Thistle, Joules Thistle

Husband Robert “ Capp” Carpenter, Daughter Debbie Carpenter Nielsen
Her family lovingly calls her Gran and Great Gran
She will be dearly missed.
