With great sadness, we announce the passing of James C Piquette on April 28th. Jim was born in May 1944, in Butte, Montana and was the second of six children born to James and Betty Piquette. He grew up in Missoula, Montana, and graduated in 1963 from Missoula County High School. After graduation, Jim served in the US Army before returning home to marry Kathleen Casto Piquette on December 26, 1966 in Missoula, MT. They were married for an incredible 56 years.
Jim worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad for an impressive 42 years. Over his railroading career, Jim held various positions in Montana, Colorado, Texas, Washington, Minnesota, and Missouri. He developed life-long friendships through his work and was known for his love of (mostly true) storytelling and connecting with railroad friends.
During his free time, he enjoyed woodworking projects, model railroading, fishing, attending his grandkids' events, and helping his neighbors with various home improvement projects. He cherished spending time with his family and friends and was always ready with a witty phrase and a (very) firm handshake.
Jim leaves behind his wife Kathy, children Mark, Carrie, and Jeff, six grandchildren, sisters Margie and Michelle, and a community of friends and loved ones who will miss him deeply. He is predeceased by his parents, sisters Caroline and Charlene and brother, John. His legacy of kindness, humor, and hard work will continue to inspire all privileged enough to know him.
A celebration of life will take place at Ave Maria Catholic Church in Parker, Colorado, on June 7th at 11 am.
