Jack Hausen

Jack Edward Hausen, Jr., 65, of Aurora, Colorado, passed away on January 16, 2021. He was born on November 24, 1955 in Chicago, Illinois to Jack Edward Hausen, Sr. and Sophia Hausen (Lycos). Jack married the love of his life, Sarah Hausen (Ventrella) on September 4, 1983 and the two welcomed their greatest gift, Micaela Jacklyn, almost exactly 9 years later on September 3, 1992.

Jack was the first of three children, although he often joked that he was the youngest. Jack began his career at Mayfair Carpet. From there, he worked at Lanier and retired from Canon to take on his favorite title as a “recreational professional” on December 31, 2017. Throughout his career Jack began in sales, but was quickly promoted to manager, then director, and ultimately Vice President. Jack served as a friend and a mentor to many throughout his long and successful career. We were all so happy for him when he decided it was time to retire. Jack and Sarah raised their daughter in Barrington, but decided to go “out west” 10 years ago and moved to the Denver area. 

Jack could light up any room, usually because of his dance moves, his infectious laugh, or his storytelling abilities (they somehow always sounded a little better when he told them). He spent his time traveling, playing golf, hunting, riding his motorcycle, gambling, and spending time with family and friends. Jack collected hats from the various places and events (even coffee shops!) he visited, and the collection speaks for itself: the man lived life to its fullest.

Jack was a proud and devoted member of the Republican Party and a firm believer in the Second Amendment. He, Sarah and Micaela traveled the world over the years, but Jack and Sarah’s trips to Vietnam, Cambodia and Singapore were recent favorites. Jack also enjoyed riding his Harley to Sturgis and throughout the west. 

Jack’s greatest passion in life was his family and he spent a majority of his time cheering us on and celebrating our accomplishments. Growing up, Micaela loved going to Six Flags, target practice at the gun range and the Super Kiss Car Wash (locals will know how cool that carwash is - the soap is just better!!). Growing up, Micaela loved the father-daughter time brought by “Indian Princess;” the campouts were always an adventure. Jack’s face was a permanent smile on Micaela’s wedding day, his happiness was not only evident, it was infectious. When Micaela and her husband, Shane, moved just 6 short minutes from Jack and Sarah’s house, he was thrilled. 

Jack never missed an opportunity to catch a round of golf with his brother, George, sister, Karen or brother-in-law, Jim. He spoke highly of his mother, Sophia, and always made sure to call her at least once per week, he was truly a “mama's boy” at heart. Most recently, he flew into town to surprise his nephew, Adam, on his wedding day to ensure he did not miss the nuptials. It was always family first for Jack. 

Jack was always game for a hunting trip with George and nephew, Alex and he never missed the annual “boondoggle” golf outing, often the first one to respond to Jim’s emails to the group. No one could bring the family together to play a game of cards quite like Jack, but he never seemed to make his nieces and nephews pay up when they lost. We will always think of Jack when we find ourselves “betting on the ponies,” especially at Arlington Racetrack.

Jack loved his family, and we loved him, deeply. Jack is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Sarah, his daughter Micaela (Shane), his mother, Sophia, his brother, George (Jamie), his sister, Karen (Jim), his mother-in-law Angela, his brother-in-law, Tony (Cindy), nieces and nephews; Chase (Emily), Eric (Kelly), Adam (Samantha), Tyler, Alex (Alaina), Nicole (Jacky), Tatum, Diana (Chase), Manny (Bridgette), Michael, and Brianna; and great-nieces and nephews, Dylan, Merrick, Wrenna and Dexter. Jack was preceded in death by his father, Jack, Sr., his father-in-law Vito Ventrella, and his brother-in-law, Michael Ventrella.
