Esther Long Obituary

Esther Leaverne Long, 82, of Castle Pines, CO passed away in Lone Tree, CO on July 18, 2020.  She was born to Tommie and Laura (Raglin) Choate on February 23, 1938 in Mingus, Texas.  Esther graduated from Arlington Heights High School in Fort worth, TX in 1956.  She was a devoted government worker at Lowry Air Force Base for the Department of Defense.

Esther was married to Gene Long for over 50 years.  They were married in Texas and moved to Montbello, Colorado when he was transferred with Frontier Airlines.

Esther was an avid craftswoman and she enjoyed working with her hands and her gifts from small buttons to elaborate quilts warmed the hearts of others on a regular basis.  Her favorite joy was gardening.  Her Irises showed off the beautiful colors of her caring spirit.  If she wasn't found crafting or gardening, you could often find her in the kitchen making her famous Biscuits and Gravy or Mexican Cornbread.

Esther was predeceased by her husband Robert Eugene Long.  She is survived by her daughter Cindy LaRusso of Castle Rock, CO, her son Keith Long (Tracey) of Highlands Ranch, CO, her granddaughter Brittany Carroll (Patrick) and their children Bailen, and Embrey of Sedalia, CO, grandson Dylan LaRusso of Granbury, TX, grandchildren Lyndsay and Brayden Long of Highlands Ranch, CO, a sister Bertha Bright (Earl) of Granbury, TX, a brother, Tommie (Donna) Choate of Forth Worth, TX, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.  She will be greatly missed.
