Elsie Allen Obituary

Mrs. Elsie Elaine (Jansonius) Allen, daughter of John & Mary (La Poire) Jansonius, was born on August 14, 1921, on the family farm in rural Phillips County, KS. Elsie passed away on September 10, 2020, at the Assured Assisted Living Memory Care Home in Castle Rock, Colorado, at the age of 99.

Elsie attended grade school at the Whitehall Country School and graduated from Prairie View High School in Prairie View, Kansas.  Upon graduation, she stayed home two years helping her mom on the farm.  Thereafter, she moved to Denver, Colorado, and worked at the May Company and other department stores.  Later on, she was a neighborhood Avon sales lady for 14 years, making many friends along the way.
Elsie was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Vernon Edgar Allen, on August 14, 1945, upon his return from serving five years in the US Army Air Corps in England, North Africa, and Italy, during WWII.
Elsie loved music throughout her life. She could still hit the high soprano notes even close to the end of her life. She enjoyed cooking, spending time with the family, doing word puzzles, camping, traveling, gardening, reading, her school days where she excelled, and reminiscing about her family and days on the farm, especially talking about riding her horse ol Smoke.
She was a member of United Methodist Church, on Downing and Yale Streets, in Denver for 50 years and enjoyed singing in the choir.
Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon, her parents, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

Survivors include her son, Ed Allen, Erie, CO; 3 daughters, Marcia Johnson, Franktown, CO; Debi Douglas, Gilbert, AZ; and Barbara George, Colorado Springs, CO; 10 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 1 step great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

Elsie was a dedicated and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, homemaker and friend.  Everyone that knew her was richly blessed by her sweet and joyful spirit. She will be dearly missed by all.
Funeral services will be held at Parker Funeral Home and Crematory, 10325 Parkglenn Way, Parker, CO, 80138.  Service will begin at 9:00 a.m., Monday, September 21, 2020, followed by a brunch.  Due to Covid-19 restrictions.  Funeral will be limited to family members only.
