Elaine Coggin Obituary

Elaine M. Coggin passed peacefully from this life on September 23, 2022, with loved ones by her side.  Elaine moved to Tucson, AZ , from upstate New York with her family when she was 15 years old.  She soon met and married George., a native of Arizona.   They lived in Phoenix until recently.  The family enjoyed camping, boating and water skiing together and were active in the Desert Boat and Ski Club during the 60s and 70s. George and Elaine traveled extensively throughout the United States in their motorhome before and after he retired.   Elaine loved music and dancing.  She was a member of Copperstate Cloggers for more than 25 years, dancing and performing into her 80s.   A highlight of this was performing in Nashville at the Grand Old Oprey.  Elaine worked in electronics manufacturing for a time but she loved being a homemaker and was fiercely devoted to her family and friends.  She loved animals and found great joy in the companionship of her little dogs.   She was a trusted “baby whisperer” and leaves fond childhood memories of her with grandchildren, nieces, nephews, her children and their friends.

She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Geroge Coggin, her children, Cathleen Wimmer (Charles), Deborah Golembiewski, Gerald Coggin (Becky) and Michael Coggin (Regina), brothers Ronald Crehan and Brian Crehan (Robin), 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews. cousins and friends who loved her dearly.  She is predeceased by her parents, Grace and Edward Crehan, brother Donald and sisters Audrey (Penny) Mcfadden and Margaret Hyde.

George and Elaine are members of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Phoenix, AZ. There are no services planned at this time.  Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, Mesa, AZ , at a date yet to be determined.
