We are sad to announce the passing of Donald “Bill” William Rumler of Elizabeth CO. He passed away at the age of 79 on October 15, 2023. Bill passed away from stroke complications and cardiac arrest. He was surrounded by his family. Bill was born on April 10, 1944, in Madison WI to the late Donald & Wilma (Becker) Rumler. He grew up in the small town of Stitzer WI, where his dad owned the local gas station and where Bill worked once he was old enough. He graduated from Fennimore High School as an accomplished athlete. He was quarter back of the football team, tried out for the Milwaukee Braves, and played college baseball. He went on to graduate from UW – Platteville in 1967 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. He always knew that he and his brother, Larry, would be Civil Engineers from day one. On March 18, 1967, Bill married Judy Gilbertson (Eldon & Marge Gilbertson). They were married for 56 years and raised four wonderful children. After graduation from UW-Platteville, Bill worked for the IL Department of Transportation. He later worked for several years for Belvidere Construction in Belvidere IL. He then went on to work for Edward Kraemer & Sons for the next 20+ years as Regional Manager. This required moves to Kansas City, KS and finally Denver, CO. After leaving Kraemer’s he worked for Lawrence Construction which led him into retirement and ultimately his dream job…Estimator for Rumler Civil Construction (son, Trent’s company). Bill loved the construction industry, building bridges and interchanges was his passion. He never complained about going to work and was estimating jobs until the day he went to the hospital. Even in the hospital he was still asking Trent about jobs they were bidding on. Time not spent estimating, Bill enjoyed watching the Broncos, Rockies, and the Nuggets. He loved a good Western movie, current or oldie. At family get togethers he looked forward to a competitive game of Euchre, always giving everyone a hard time. In earlier years he enjoyed fishing at Bagley and hunting the fields around Stitzer. Bill has eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren that he very much enjoyed, especially joking around with them. Bill was preceded in death by his parents Donald & Wilma Rumler, and stepmother, Dolores Rumler; sons, Todd & Lance, and daughter Tracey Rumler; Granddaughter Mia Rumler (Trent’s). He is survived by his wife Judy Rumler; Children, Tressa Rumler, Trent (Christine) Rumler, Tara (Kevin) George; Brothers, Larry (Vickie) Rumler, Ted (Amy) Rumler; Step-Siblings, Steve (Erica) Hill, Barb (Keith) Bohringer, Bev (Jim) Broihahn, Sandy (Kurt) Mergen, Kathy (Randy) Strang, Joan Hill, Gerri (Joe) Reuter, Jackie (Rick) Clark; Grandchildren, Tyler Gregory, Travis (Faith) Gregory, Marissa, McKenzie, Macie, Marlie Rumler, Carson & Casey George; Great Grandchildren, Kaison & Kaiden Gregory.
