Our hearts are heavy as our family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, Dennis W. Fleming on October 5, 2023. He died at home surrounded by his family in Centennial, CO.
Dennis was born in Painesville, OH to John & Norma Fleming and joined the US Marines during the Vietnam War. He transitioned to the US Air Force after the war as his field of service was no longer available. He retired after 20 years of dedicated service. He was a friend and financial mentor to many people throughout his life, offering sound advice to assist anyone.
Dennis is survived by his beloved wife Elaine Morgan Fleming, daughter Lori, son Alex, Lori’s husband Candelario, grandsons Jonathan and Tristan, sister Debbie Wolkoff, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dennis served as an Officer in the Air Force as a tester and communications-computer engineer of diversified command and control systems. After he retired from the military, he joined Lockheed Martin in 1997 where he supported the System Test on the Space Based Infrared System program. He transitioned to Operations contributing Readiness efforts and Rehearsal planning and execution for the Launch and Early Orbit Testing of each of the SBIRS satellites. He served as a Satellite Systems Engineer until his death.
Dennis was always helping people. He was talented in the financial realm and always had the answer for any question, earning the nickname of “Data” in reference to the Star Trek robotic character of the same name.
Dennis was an avid golfer and took many golf trips with friends over the years. As a teenager in Augusta GA, he was a gallery guard for the Masters’ tournaments. Dennis always helped family as much as he could, taking in his sister after their mother’s death, always welcoming family back home.
