Debra Minton Obituary

It is with much sadness to share that Debra Jackson Minton, 74, of Littleton, CO, passed away from natural causes April 22nd, 2022.

Debra was predeceased by her parents, Ralph and Nancy, her long-time partner, John, and her beloved son, Tyler.  She is survived by her daughter, Lisa, three grandchildren, Lauren, Bella and Reagan, and daughter-in-law, Heather.

Debra grew up in Denver, CO where she attended East High school.  She excelled academically and was offered a partial scholarship to the University of Colorado.  However, due to family finances and obligations, she declined the scholarship.  Instead, she accepted a position in distribution at Western Electric.  After a 15-year tenure there, she left the workforce to pursue her long-desired college degree in Finance, eventually becoming the first member of her family to “turn the tassel.”  Upon earning her degree, she joined the Veteran’s Administration as a claims adjudicator, where helping military members and their families became her passion.  She retired from the VA a decade ago to spend more time with her friends and family, particularly her treasured grandchildren.  She enjoyed gardening, antiquing, scrapbooking, cake decorating, genealogy, traveling, lunching with “the ladies” and would do just about anything for any animal.

While Debra struggled with health issues in recent years, she remained strong.  She was, among many other things, very smart, generous, loving, empathetic, intuitive, wise and witty.  She possessed an uncanny way of telling stories, and punctuated every tale with her incredible sense of humor.  As she would say during this very difficult time, “Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the opera?”

Services will be held at Parker Funeral Home May 16th at 1:00 (10325 Parkglenn Way, Parker), with a short remembrance at Parker Cemetery after, followed by a luncheon at Parker Garage at 2:30 (19420 Mainstreet, Parker).  All are welcome.

Contributions in memory of Debra can be made to the ASPCA or Wounded Warrior Project.
