Darcy Meyer Obituary

Darcy  Lynn Meyer passed away on April, 3, 2024 in Parker, Colorado.  She was born on April 8, 1958 to Darwin Meyer and Mabel Knudson Meyer.  She lived in Ormsby MN for several months before moving to Sherburn MN.  She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn MN.  Interestingly, her great grandfather was one of the founders of that church.

Darcy received her elementary and high school education in Sherburn, graduating from Sherburn High School in 1976.  She received a B.A from Mankato State University and then later returned to school to obtain a Nursing degree while living in Rapid City SD.

As an adult, Darcy lived in Rochester, MN, Sherburn, MN, and Rapid City SD before settling in the Chadron NE area for the past 25 years.  She worked as an RN in various care facilities before  health difficulties forced her to retire.  While in Chadron, Darcy converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was very involved in church activities.  She also enjoyed arts and crafts and was usually busy making items for friends and family.  She loved animals and always enjoyed having cats and/or dogs.  Sadly her cat Stella passed away recently.  She had already identified another cat and had started the adoption process when she passed away.  Darcy enjoyed gardening and would always share her most recent exploits with me when we talked on the telephone.

Surviving Darcy are her brother Kim and his wife Roshani Samarasinghe of Albuquerque, NM.  She is also survived by two aunts, Vera Meyer of Sunapee, NH and Centennial, CO and Jean Knudson of Kimberling City, MO.

She was preceded in death by her mother Mabel (1987), father Darwin (1998), an infant brother (1955), grandparents, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A Memorial Service was held for Darcy on April 5 in Chadron, NE.  She will be laid to rest in Sherburn MN later this summer.

Memorials may be given in memory of Darcy to the donor’s choice.
