On April 15th, 2023, Carol Deamer Rohwedder completed her journey here on Earth, surrounded by family, peacefully at her home in Parker, Colorado. She was 85.
Carol was born on July 24th, 1937 to Ina Geneva Taysom and Lyle William Deamer in Ogden, Utah at Dee Memorial Hospital. Carol is survived by her husband Robert Wallace Rohwedder, siblings Jean Ellen Bigler, Gaye Deamer, Gary Lyle (Sharon) Deamer, and Roger Charles Deamer. She is also survived by her children, Michelle Rohwedder (Tim) Robbins, Michael Robert (Barbie) Rohwedder, Christine (Norbert) Fabian-Foley and her 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She is proceeded in death by her parents and her son-in-law, Mark Robert Fabian Sr.
Carol was the second-born daughter of Lyle and Ina. They raised her and her siblings in Ogden and moved into a house that her father built when she was 12 years old, located on 12th and Grant. She attended Ben Loman High School, class of ’55, where she was the president of the Albonette’s pep squad, vice president of the dancing clan, member of the swimming clan, and contributor to the Highland’s, the school newspaper. Her leadership in these communities would set a precedent that she would continue throughout her life. She attended Brigham Young University and then Utah State. She worked as a dental assistant and office manager throughout her life. She met Bob, the love of her life, at Marquardt, an aeronautical manufacturing company where they both worked Bob remembers admiring her at the water cooler talking to other young women, working up the courage to ask her on a date. He called from a phone booth in the rain, and she accepted. From there, she and Bob embarked on a lifetime of incredible adventures, over 62 years. They moved from Utah to Washington to California, then on to Saudi Arabia and Dubai, and then back to the United States, to Illinois and Colorado. They traveled to over 41 countries and visited all 50 states. They raised their children with care—Carol presided and served in parent-teacher associations throughout their childhood. She was the matriarch of her family, often hosting her children and grandchildren in her home. She was a welcoming friend and always stayed active in her communities. She was involved in several philanthropic organizations, including the Mayflower Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, and Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She faithfully served in her callings as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was a member of the Pinery Needles Quilting Group, where she shared her creativity with others. She was a talented painter and artful decorator, crafting warmth and festivity in every place she lived and during every season. Her dedication to personal growth, to her family, and to the many communities of which she was part has earned her a place of high regard in our memories.
