Phyllis Marie Calabrese Brenner, 72, was born of on December 26, 1946 in Boulder, CO, to Ralph K. and Ruby Florence (Slinkard) Calabrese. She was raised in Central City, CO with her brothers, David and William and her sister, Patricia. In 1964 she graduated from Gilpin County High School. She attended Mercy Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1968 as a Registered Nurse, that was her profession for the duration of her life. Phyllis had worked for 22 years at Porter Memorial Hospital in Denver, CO. On December 20, 1969, she married Bruce Paul Brenner in Denver, CO. They had four children, Jennifer, Peter, Joseph and Susan. In May of 1979, they bought a home in Centennial, CO, where they raised their four children and lived there for 40 years. She was widowed on March 8, 2017. Phyllis passed away on September 8, 2019, she is survived by her four children, Jennie (Joe) Carter, Parker, CO, Peter (Tara) Brenner, Woodland Park, CO, Joe (Shawnee) Brenner, Colorado Springs, CO, and Susie (Frank) Brenner, Denver, CO; grandchildren, Anthony Carter, Parker, CO; Catie Carter, Parker, CO, Eve Brenner, Colorado Springs, CO, Alex Brenner, Colorado Springs, CO, Rhys Brenner, and Colorado Springs, CO; and many nieces and nephews, all whom she loved dearly.
A Rosary will be said on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at 10:30 am at Ave Maria Catholic Church, Parker, CO, followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. A luncheon reception will be held at Maggie Smith's Irish Pub, 6631 S. Peoria Street Unit 100, Englewood, CO 80111.
