Larry George Cothren, 71, of Kowa, Colorado passed away on July 11, 2019. Larry was born in Berwyn, Illinois to Billy and Marilyn Steager Cothren on August, 20, 1947. He attended high school until the age of 17, and had to drop out to help take care of the family for a while. The family was living in Colton, California at that time. Larry later went on to obtain his GED at Pikes Peak Workforce Center and graduated from Mitchell High School in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Larry loved horse breaking, rodeo riding, driving a truck across the country mostly for United. He was a double grinder operator for Coors Brewery, worked for 10 years for the city of Colorado Springs Street Department which included snow removal, barricade team, operating a bulldozer, driving dirt trucks, and much more; he was also a manufacturer and line leader, delivery driver, and his most recent job was an overnight stocker for Walmart.
He loved helping with Boy Scouts, loved horses, and trains (both real and models), fishing, hunting, shooting, motorcycle riding and reading.
Larry leaves behind his wife Brenda of the home in Kiowa, CO, his son Wesley Cothren also of Kiowa, CO, his mother Marilyn Robison of Ft. worth, TX, a sister Sandra (Cookie) Cothren of Maryvill, Tn, a brother Robert (Bobby) of Ft. Worth, TX, two daghters Marilyn Fagan and Carrie Paul, both of Colorado Springs, CO, and 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by Billy Buford, his father, Clint Jon Cothren, a son, and Tyler Morales, a grandson.
Service to be on Thursday July 18, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Elbert Christian Church.
