John M. O'Connell

John Michael O’Connell, age 67, of Parker, CO, passed away May 3, 2018 with his loving wife, Dianne by his side. John was born February 12, 1951, in Chicago, IL. He attended Western Illinois University, in Macomb, IL, and graduated in 1973 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation. He followed his passion for tennis and became a tennis pro. On August 16 1980, John married the love of his life, Dianne Michalik, in a ceremony in Cherry Hills, CO.  John went back to school and reinvented his career to become an ITT technician for American Family Insurance. John remained a competitive tennis player, enjoyed making stained glass and spending time with his beloved Schnauzer Bailey. John is survived by his wife, Dianne, of Parker, CO; step-sons Marc and Michael Michalik, of Walsenburg, CO; sister, Margaret Crow, of Sandy Springs, GA; brothers, Richard O’Connell, of Lombard, IL and Rev. William O’Connell, of Des Moines, IA; mother in law, Pauline Del Cegno of New Britain CT; brother in-law Donald Del Cegno of Plainville CT; nephews, Michael O’Connell, Mark Crow, Benjamin O’Connell and Matthew O’Connell; nieces, Christine Smalley and Rebecca Crow; great-nephews, Drayton Smalley and Lincoln Smalley and great-niece Zoe O’Connell. John was predeceased by his father, Jackson O’Connell and his mother Faye Tyler Mead.

The memorial service will be held at Wellshire Presbyterian Church in Denver on June 2 at 11:00 AM with a reception immediately after.
