JD Davis died on May 20, 2018 at University Hospital in Aurora, CO. He was born February 16, 1947 in Coldwater, KS at the home of his parents, Vern and Doris (Smith) Davis. JD graduated from Pratt High School in 1965. He served six years in the US Army Reserves, most of which was as a drill sergeant. On February 18, 1984 JD married Ann Zimmerman in Kansas City, MO. Ann survives JD and lives in their home in Elizabeth, CO. He is also survived by a daughter from a previous marriage, Shannon Edmonds and two grand daughters, Kendall and Kylie, of Coppel, TX; his son from a previous marriage, Josh Davis, of Aurora, CO; his mother, Doris (Smith) Davis, of Fairview, OK; a brother Terry (Sidonna) Davis, of Woodward, OK; two nephews, Jorden (Amy) Davis and Dustin (Wendy) Davis, both of whom reside in Woodward, OK; his father-in-law, Wallace Zimmerman, of Fort Worth, TX; his sister-in-law, Bonnie (Daniel) Dalke, of Fort Worth, TX; niece, Mindy (Paul) Kirkwood, and their daughters, Cheyenne and Sierra, of Saginaw, TX; his niece Shandra Dalke, of Fort Worth, TX. JD was preceded in death by his father, Vern Davis, on November 10, 2008, in Fairview, OK, and by his sister Marilyn Davis, on November 3, 1945 in Coldwater, KS. JD was a valued employee of Home Depot in Castle Rock, CO, where he had worked for 19 years. JD enjoyed woodworking, spectator sports, cats, reading, going to Taos and Santa Fe, NM, camping and playing slots. He also had artistic interests, which included his woodworking and photography, which he called "territorial arts". JD also enjoyed writing poetry, which he called merely serenity. Honoring JD's wishes there will not be a funeral. His body will be cremated and part of his ashes will be spread on Fall River Road near Trail Ridge Pass, on August 18, 2018., with the remainder to be buried at a family plot at Memorial Park Cemetery in Hutchinson, KS on September 1, 2018.
