After battling a long standing illness, on October, 12th, 2017, James A Peters, 79, of Parker, Colorado passed away.

James, originally from Florida, was in the United States Army Airborne Division and attended Jump School in Ft. Campbell, KY as a member of Battery B, 89th Airborne Field Artillery Battalion, 11th Airborne Division.  He was a member of Company B, 506th Airborne Infantry Regiment 101st Airborne Division.

After leaving the Army, James worked for the Florida State Department of Transportation ultimately retiring as a District Construction Engineer for Traffic Signals after 33 years in 1993.

After his retirement, he spent much of his free time traveling through the Smokey Mountains with his life long friends David and Alyce Ray, whom he’d known since his days in the Army, photographing and exploring the natural beauty of the mountains.  He soon found a passion for carving wood and began to build unique furniture and folk art using wood found in the mountains.

He is survived by his son, James, his daughter Patricia, his daughter-in-law Jennie, and two grandchildren Delaney and Sara.

James will be laid to rest at Fort Logan National Cemetery on November 10th, 2017 at 2:30 pm, Staging Area B.
