Gayle Paeper, age 67, passed away peacefully on the morning of August 29 at her home in Elizabeth, CO surrounded by family. Gayle was born in Omaha, NE on July 10, 1951. She graduated from Omaha Central High in the summer of 1969, then attended the University of Nebraska.
Gayle had a very fulfilling career throughout her life. She worked for the State of Iowa for 20 years in support services and was heavily involved in the AFSCME union during that time. She then worked in restaurant management for several years, and finished her career in sales at CenturyLink, Intuit and Comcast. She retired in 2016.
Gayle’s biggest passion was being a mother and grandmother. She was proud of all of her kids and grandkids and loved celebrating their accomplishments with others. She was known as Grammy Gayle to many and Mama Gayle to many more. She considered all of them her kids and would do anything for them. If you’re one of these people, please know that you meant as much to her as she did to you.
Gayle was an avid sports fan, and she enthusiastically cheered on the Colorado Avalanche, Chicago Bears, and her alma mater: the Nebraska Cornhuskers. She was very outgoing socially and loved spending time with family and friends. She was always up for a good time and was known to belt out a karaoke song or two in her time. She enjoyed anything related to theatre, both Broadway and dance, and she especially loved attending shows. She was the life of the party — her infectious laugh would fill the room.
Gayle is survived by her children, Steve and Sonia Paeper of Elizabeth, CO, Daniel and Jessica Paeper of Hoboken, NJ, and Leslie and Brett McCord of Aurora, CO; grandchildren Kyler Paeper, Cheyenne Paeper, Maylea and Alexxa McCord; and life-long best friend Janet Hansen. She was also survived by her brothers, Tony and Judy Stacey, Mike and Michelle Stacey, Del and Connie Stacey, and many nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Delbert and Virginia Stacey, and her sister Margaret Stacey.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in Gayle’s name.
