Dorothy E. Turnbow, 90 of Aurora, CO passed away at Chelsea Place, Aurora, CO on August 5, 2017. There will be no funeral or visitation but a celebration of Life will be held at a latter date.

Dorothy was born on November3, 1926, in rural Hunterdon County, New Jersey to George and Ella Peterson.

Dorothy is survived by Robert E. Turnbow who she married on December 17, 1947 in Rantoul, Illinois. Also surviving are her brother Edward Peterson of Upper Black Eddy, Pennsylvania, two sons, Neal Turnbow of Gifford, Illinois and Wayne Turnbow of Denver, Colorado and three grandchildren.

She was predeceased in death by her parents.

After finishing high school Dorothy went on to attend and graduate from the Thomas Jefferson University as a registered nurse where she finished first in her class of one hundred and fifty student. Upon graduation she worked at Thomas Jefferson Hospital for six years and became head nurse of the men’s medical ward. Next she enlisted in the U.S Air Force as a First Lieutenant and was promoted to Captain. While in the Air Force. She graduated from the Air Force Flight Nurse Training School. After spending six years in the Air Force she retired from active duty and spent her remaining years as a wife, mother and grandmother.

Dorothy enjoyed her family and her sociability of her golf, bowling, and bridge groups. She also enjoyed vacationing in Bucks County Pennsylvania with her family at the New Jersey beaches. European and Caribbean cruised with her husband and friends were also highlights.
