Doris Huezo

Doris Huezo, 94, passed away surrounded by her loving family on July 5, 2018 in Evergreen, Colorado. She was born to Francisco Antonio Huezo and Doris Rochefort Barron on May 10, 1924 in La Ceiba, Honduras while her father was working on a civil engineering project. She was raised in New Orleans, Baltimore, and Santa Tecla, El Salvador before coming to Los Angeles, California in 1944. She worked in accounting for many years and retired after working 17 years at Flying Tigers Credit Union near her home in Playa del Rey, California. She moved to Evergreen in 1988 to be closer to her only daughter and thrilled to care for her two grandchildren. While in Evergeen, she was an active member of the community, making many dear friends while teaching a weekly Spanish group in her home, volunteering at the Life Care Center of Evergreen, and an active parishioner of Christ the King Catholic Church in Evergreen.
Doris had a passion for traveling and visited many countries across Europe, Asia, South America, Australia, and the Middle East. One of her most memorable trips was throughout the Holy Land in the Middle East and Medjugorje in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Over the years, she traveled to many places with her loving daughter and close friends. Aside from her travels around the world, she loved visiting her family in San Salvador, El Salvador and Santiago, Chile.
She is preceded in death by her siblings: Vincente - Merida, Mexico; Joyce - San Salvador; Gloria - Walnut Creek, California; and Ricardo - San Salvador.
She is survived by her loving daughter Diana, son-in-law Richard - Evergreen, CO; grandson Jonathan - Denver, CO; and granddaughter Jennifer - Denver, CO. Also leaving behind her sister-in-law Esperanza Huezo - San Salvador; and many beloved nieces and nephews around the world.
Doris’s final resting place will be with her family in Santa Tecla, El Salvador.
Services will be held on Thursday July 12, 2018 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 4291 Evergreen Pkwy in Evergreen, CO. The viewing and rosary will be from 10:00am-11:00am, a Catholic funeral Mass from 11:00am-12:00pm followed by a reception at the church.
In lieu of flowers, her family asks for donations to be made to Mount Evans Home Health Care & Hospice of Evergreen for the immeasurable love, care, and support provided to Doris and her family throughout the final months of her life.
