Alyssa Lynn Barnum Eckman, 21, passed away on June 8, 2019 after a battle with ALS. Alyssa was born August 15, 1997, in Murray, UT to Karl and Rebecca Rytting Barnum. Her family moved to Parker, CO when she was a year old, and she grew up loving living in Colorado. Alyssa graduated from Legend High School in 2015 and was a student at Brigham Young University-Idaho where she studied Social Work. Alyssa married her sweetheart, Jacob Eckman, on April 8, 2017. They lived in Rexburg, ID while attending school. Alyssa is survived by her husband, her parents and her siblings: Michael, Joanna (Todd) Cresswell, Matthew (Leena), Brett, Jacob, Jesse and Braden, her niece, Zoey Cresswell, as well as her grand-parents, Roger and Karen (Fielding) Barnum and Barbara Kay (Smith) Rytting. Alyssa was a strong spirit, overcoming and succeeding despite many challenges in life, relying with great faith on her Savior, Jesus Christ. She loved to read and could often be found with a book in her hands. She enjoyed hiking with her family and playing games. Alyssa was loved by many and all were touched by her sweet smile. She will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 13, 2019, with a viewing preceding the services at 10 a.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 17910 French Creek Ave, Parker.
