Gary Lynn Thomas Jr., age 48, passed into the presence of God on May 6, 2021 at his home in Parker, Colorado. Gary fought a courageous battle against the rare and aggressive Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer (ATC). He was born on March 20, 1973, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Gary Lynn Thomas Sr. and Rita Kay Thomas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gary and Rita Thomas. He is survived by his wife, Kate Thomas of Parker, CO; sister, Lacy Thomas of Benton, AR; son Matthew Thomas of Benton, AR; daughter Madison Thomas of Conway, AR; stepchildren Nathan (Elizabeth) Owen of AZ and Michelle (Jared) Sercu of TX; and step-grandchildren Rona and Katie Mae Owen of AZ and Noah Sercu of TX.
Gary was a member of Crossroads Community Church, in Parker, CO. He will be well remembered for his time serving as a youth pastor at Benton First Assembly of God in Benton, AR. He was a skilled paintless dent repair technician, working in the automotive industry for over 30 years. He was a member of the Aspen Flying Club, in CO; he shared his love of aviation with friends and family, taking to air at any opportunity and with anyone that wanted to fly along. He never missed a chance to be enjoying a cruise, traveling and sightseeing, skiing with friends and family, shooting with the guys, and enjoying the outdoors. He loved the life he had made in Colorado.
Gary never met a stranger and had the biggest heart. His gratitude was never ending, his friends and family were his love and his life. He will be missed by so many.
A service in remembrance of Gary will be held at Benton First Assembly of God in Benton, AR on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 10 o’clock in the morning.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Gary Thomas Take Flight Scholarship. The scholarship has been established at Aspen Flying Club in Gary’s name, to provide funds for youth to learn to fly and explore careers in aviation.
