In Loving Memory of Sheila Beaucond (Sheila Katherine Emerson) born March 17, 1937, passed October 19, 2016. Sheila is survived by her children, Scott and Melanie Houston, daughters-in-law Trish Houston and Amy Turner, grandsons, Donnie Lockwood, John Houston and Alex Turner, and siblings Priscilla Licht,  Seth and Tony Emerson.

Sheila was born in New York City, where she lived with her parents (Howard and Harriet) and her Grandmother until age 9.  Her family then moved to Palo Alto, California. Sheila earned her Nursing degree from San Jose State University where she met her first husband, Bob Houston. Bob joined the Air Force after college, which led to travel and living in various places including South Carolina, Texas, Madrid (Spain) and Colorado.  Sheila loved to travel and really enjoyed living in Europe.

Sheila worked as a Nurse in various roles for the better part of 40 years. She got her Master’s degree in Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado, had her own private practice for a while, and spent the bulk of her career working at the VA Hospital in San Diego, California. Following the end of her first marriage, Sheila boldly set out on her own with two children to make a new life. She raised her two children as a single parent. She would refer to them as the three musketeers taking on the world. She helped put both her children through college and into successful future careers at great expense to her personal pursuits.   Sheila made her home in Encinitas, California with her second husband, Bob Beaucond and thoroughly enjoyed life in Southern California – she loved the beach, shopping at Marshalls, playing golf, and sitting by her pool.

We will miss every inch of her! She taught us so much - how to be smart, kind, insightful and ...gentle. She was shy, but also a force to be reckoned with on occasion!

We love you, Mom! We will miss you, but will catch you on the other side....

A Memorial will be held for Sheila on Saturday, November 12 from 9-10 a.m. at First Plymouth Congregational Church, 3501 S Colorado Blvd, Englewood, Colorado 80113. Scott and Melanie will return Sheila’s ashes to San Diego on Sunday, November 13.
