Robert Melvin Hall passed away peacefully Monday, February 12, 2018 at age 86. Bob, as he was known to many, was born May 1, 1931 in Vernal, Utah to Joseph Claude & Ester Marvella Hall. He married Anne Forbes on May 6, 1969. Bob graduated from Moffett County High School in 1949. He was a true cowboy all of his teen years. After high school he attended the University of Wyoming after which he worked with a seismograph team surveying the oil fields of Wyoming.

He joined the military and attended basic training at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri. He was in transit to Korea when the armistice was signed. He was then stationed in Oahu, Hawaii at Schofield Barracks and often said that this just “broke his heart.” After his term of service was over he transferred into full time Colorado Army National Guard in which he served during the Vietnam conflict. With a total of 42 years of service to our country he retired from the armed forces. He then went to work for the Department of Defense Police at Buckley Air Force Base in Aurora, Colorado, finally retiring for good in 2000.

In his spare time Bob was active in the Boy Scouts of America for over 50 years in one capacity or another. He was one of the founding members of the Mountain Man Rendezvous at Heart Lake on the flat tops of Colorado. He was an avid hunter of large game in the area and served as a teacher of hunter safety for several decades. He also helped found and lead a mountain search and rescue team of the Colorado National Guard.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Anne. He is survived by sons Shane (Mary), Eric (Natasha) and Daniel; 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
