Lola Vanell Eads , age 87, of Northglenn, CO, entered into eternal rest October 6, 2017 in Thornton, CO. Born May 14, 1930 in Patmos, AR, Lola attended school through eighth Grade, then finished her education as an adult at Emily Griffith Opportunity School where she earned her GED and majored in Business. She then went on to be a bookkeeper, a sales representative for Kelvinator Appliances, and a records clerk for the Thornton Police Department (retired). Ms. Eads hobbies included reading, gardening and quilting.
Lola was an avid reader of western novels by Zane Grey and Louis L'amour. She studied the Bible and taught her children the value of learning from an early age, taking them to the library every week and checking out as many books as possible and reading them all. She also was a devoted gardener and greatly enjoyed walking through her yards to see any new blossoms  She particularly loved her tulips in spring and her moon flowers in summer time. Lola was a seamstress and sewed many dresses for her daughters and shirts for her husband and sons.  But the things she took greatest delight in creating were quilts.  She made many quilts to keep her family warm but when she discovered a pattern for a "Dutch Girl" design among some of her mother's things after her death, she focused on that pattern.  She made certain that each member of her family had a quilt that she had hand sewn and quilted.  The males in the family were gifted with quilts of a "Farmer Bill" design.  She continued making these heirlooms until a few years ago when arthritis in her hands made it too painful to work the embroidery and quilting stitches. She also loved to sing and was gifted with a very fine voice.  She started singing at church when she learned to talk and when she was older, she sang with a family band with her sons.  One of her favorite appearances was a number she performed with the "Flying "W" Wranglers" at a company dinner.
Loving and hospitable are words from everyone who knew her.  She welcomed people into her home with warmth and a sincere offer of food and a ready cup of coffee.  Her home was a safe place for many of the young ones in the family as they grew and sought their place in the world after leaving their family homes.  She was much loved and appreciated and is sorely missed.  Lola leaves behind a void in the lives of those she loved and was loved by.
Lola is survived by her four children; daughter Winona V. (Eads) Fowler  (C. Dexter ) of Pueblo, son Eddie D. Eads (Jill) of Elizabeth, CO, son Norman W.
