James R. Black, age 67, of Elizabeth, CO, died on Friday, May 13, 2016 at St. Joseph’s hospital in Denver, CO after battling lung disease. 

He was born in Swedesboro, NJ on October 22, 1948 to Edward H. and Dorothy Jean (Wetzel) Black and was the youngest of three boys.  After high school, Jim attended Union College in Kentucky where he met his wife Linda (Freeman). They married on June 17, 1972.  He served in the Air National Guard and most recently worked as a lead operator for the City of Englewood Water Treatment Plant.  Jim was an avid reader, gardener and outdoorsman.  He loved watching the deer in the yard.  Most of all he was a hard worker, kind and generous, always doing something for someone else.

Jim is survived by his wife, Linda Black; his children, daughter Monica Lynn Black and son Kevin James (Nichole) Black; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents Edward H. and Dorothy Jean Black, and his two older brothers, Edward and Robert Black. 

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday June 5, 2016 from 1p-3p at Jim’s home in Elizabeth. This will be a time to be together and share memories, everyone is welcome.
