Duane Lemburg Obituary

Duane Ray Lemburg, age 77, passed away on March 22, 2018 at his home in Littleton, surrounded by his family and friends.   A celebration of his life will be held at  10:00am Tuesday, March 27th  at Abiding Hope Church at 6337 S. Robb Way, Littleton, CO  80127.  His burial will take place at Ft. Logan Cemetery at 11:30am Thursday, March 29th, at Staging Area B.  Be sure to arrive by 11:15 am for procession.  Memorials may be made to the Parkinson Association of the Rockies – donate online: ParkinsonRockies.org or mail 1325 S. Duane was born January 4, 1941 in Dannebrog, Nebraska to Ray and Hazel (Andersen) Lemburg.  He was the oldest of three children.  He grew up on a farm near Dannebrog and graduated from high school in 1959.  He studied at the University of Nebraska Lincoln and was later selected to attend Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine – class of 1965.  After graduation, Duane served in the US Army during the Vietnam War where he earned Captain status.

In August of 1961, he married Val Jean Phyllis Scofield.  Together they had one son and two daughters.  Duane relocated his family to Colorado in 1970 when he had the opportunity to purchase a Veterinary practice.   Duane and Val Jean enjoyed traveling together, as well as spending time with family and friends. 

Special interests and hobbies included Duane’s 37-year veterinary career, time with his kids and grandkids, golfing, pastel artwork, poker and playing cards. 

Duane is survived by his two siblings, brother, Lanny (Jan) and sister, Trish Beck;  sister-in-laws, Vicki Madsen (Scofield) and Rene Simdorn (Scofield); 3 children, Kent (James), Kandiss Forsyth (Brad), Kori Vieth (Chad); 7 grandchildren, Ashley, Carter, Ava, Kaedyn, Kamryn, Kelby and Dalton and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Hazel and his wife, Val Jean Lemburg (Scofield) October 2016.
