Survived by Dolly, his wife of 66 years, daughters Connie and Dayla, son Dan, and Grandsons Eric and Nicholas.

Born in Everett, Washington.  Raised in Seattle.

As a young boy, learned his volunteer skills playing the accordion at local nursing homes.

As a teenager, football was his love.  All-City and All-State earned him a football scholarship to the University of Washington.

Dale and Dolly married April 21, 1951.

A year later, Dale served his country in the Navy during the Korean conflict.

While in the Navy, his 1st daughter was born and he hitchhiked home for their 1st Mother’s Day.

In 1957 a 2nd daughter and 1st son were born.  One in January, the other in the month of December.

After leaving the Navy, Dale took his family on a wild ride working over 30 years for Chevron Oil.  He began as a Class –D salesman on a Standard Station and ended as Manager of National Accounts.  This involved 8 moves and 6 States.

Dale retired at 57 with one desire, to find a small town, become a part of that town and start his 2nd career, volunteer work.  Parker, Colorado was a perfect fit.

He began driving for the Parker Senior Center and soon became the Center’s President where he served for several years.  While serving as the Senior Center’s President, Dale was asked by the Parker City Council to take the job of Interim Town Administrator until they found someone to hire.  He accepted and asked to be paid $1.  Later he complained, “I never got a raise.”  Dolly has often said, “I saw him less as a volunteer worker than I did when he worked for a corporation.”

Dale’s volunteering included

Served on Parker City Council
Helped develop the Double Angel  Baseball fields
Sat on the board of the Parker Adventist Hospital where he later volunteered
Meals on Wheels
Visiting Nurses
American Red Cross
Became instrumental in the Parker Reservoir project
Worked with the South Metro Fire Safety Foundation

Dale will always be remembered for his 7 News Everyday Hero Award, the Parker Cornerstone Award and a Parker baseball field named after him, Dale Farmer’s field.

A dear friend paid him the greatest compliment, “To know Dale Farmer was to know a true gentleman.”

Dolly always said, “When God created you, he was just showing off.”

He will be missed.God holds him in His hands, we hold him in our hearts.
